Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism is seeking a Tourism Coordinator I at the Hardeeville Welcome Center. The role delivers front-line information, promotes South Carolina destinations, and encourages visitor spending through superior service.

Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week on a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays. Ideal candidates have hospitality-related education or two years of customer service experience and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Provide excellent customer service to every visitor of the Welcome Center.
• Promote destinations and accommodations to extend stays and increase expenditures.
• Expand knowledge of SC tourism products through regular training.
• Maintain complete and accurate inventory of literature and promotional materials.
• Gather traveler research information and enter it into the database.
• Maintain good working relationships with Visitor Service staff and partners.
• Promote teamwork with PRT departments and external tourism partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide a positive, quality customer service experience to visitors of the Welcome Center.
• Promote destinations and accommodations to visitors to extend stays and increase visitor expenditures.
• Expand personal knowledge of South Carolina tourism products and Welcome Center operations through training.
• Maintain inventory of literature and promotional materials to support visitor information and service efforts.
• Gather traveler research information and enter it into the database.
• Maintain relationships with staff and partners to meet program goals and encourage teamwork.
• Practice and promote teamwork with PRT departments and external tourism partners.
