Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism is seeking a Tourism Coordinator I to deliver exceptional visitor service at the Welcome Center. You will promote South Carolina destinations, assist travelers with planning and reservations, and help extend stays to boost tourism expenditures.

You will expand knowledge of SC tourism products through ongoing training, maintain literature inventory, and gather visitor feedback in databases, working with staff and partners to

Qualifications

• Associate degree in hospitality, marketing, public relations, retail or closely related field preferred, or high school graduate/GED + two years of customer service and public contact experience in a related field.
• Strong customer service and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with visitors and promote travel destinations.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to every visitor of the Welcome Center.
• Promote destinations and accommodations to visitors to extend stays and increase expenditures.
• Maintain inventory of literature and promotional materials.
• Gather and enter traveler research information into database.
• Maintain good working relationships with staff and partners to meet program goals.
