Qualifications

• Completion of the Vision Rehabilitation Therapist Intern program or equivalent.
• Bachelor's or master's degree or certificate in rehabilitation teaching of the blind or visually impaired, with practicum.
• Active ACVREP Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist certificate.
• Applicants may qualify if within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
• PA residency waiver for this title.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate individuals to determine needed foundational training before program admission.
• Develop plans that support educational, vocational, and independent living goals.
• Recommend, teach, and troubleshoot adaptive devices and coordinate repairs.
• Produce and distribute materials in Braille, large print, electronic, or audio formats.
• Work with instructors and staff to provide accommodations and support accessible learning environments.
• Teach navigation, daily living skills, and adaptive techniques as needed.
