Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist for the Pittsburgh District Office to help individuals who are blind or visually impaired achieve independence and self-sufficiency.

You will assess needs, develop individualized plans, teach adaptive skills, monitor progress, document cases, and provide community training. Telework may be available after training; 37.5 hours/week core schedule.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Commonwealth Vision Rehabilitation Therapist Intern program or equivalent.
• Degree in rehabilitation teaching of the blind or visually impaired, or related field.
• Active ACVREP certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess customers to identify current needs and prepare case narratives.
• Develop an individualized plan of instruction with goals and equipment needed.
• Teach self-sufficiency skills for independent living and community connection.
• Monitor progress and adjust objectives to maximize learning.
• Maintain case records and statistical data of plans and progress.
• Provide training for staff of community programs to promote positive attitudes.
