Job summary

Elica Health Centers is expanding its Vision Services and seeks an Optometric Technician to support patient care in a fast-paced Federally Qualified Health Center setting in Sacramento, CA. You will perform testing, assist the optometrist, and handle front-desk duties including scheduling and insurance verification.

Must have a high school diploma, 1 year of experience, knowledge of optometric equipment, EPIC experience preferred, and familiarity with HIPAA and vision insurance plans.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of Optometric Technician experience.
• Knowledge of optometric equipment and testing best practices.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records systems, EPIC preferred.
• Insurance verification experience preferred.
• Understand and maintain HIPAA standards of privacy and confidentiality.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, and vision insurance plans preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary and ancillary testing on patients prior to seeing the optometrist (auto-refraction, visual field screenings, visual acuity) and dilation.
• Assist with front desk duties: registering patients, scheduling, insurance forms, payments, calls, and insurance verification.
• Maintain exam rooms and labs between visits; assist with equipment stocking.
• Coordinate communication with optical labs and community agencies.
