Job summary

NexTech Solutions seeks a Virtualization Systems Engineer to design, test, integrate and maintain the P25 Astro CORE System for DS’s LERP. You will plan, benchmark and deliver efficient system capabilities, with responsibilities spanning technical analyses, security configurations and on-site support travels.

The role requires 7+ years in systems engineering, strong networking basics, and RF system knowledge, with up to 25% travel and US government context. Bachelor’s degree required.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in systems engineering including virtual network analysis, design & installation.
  • Foundational networking knowledge including IP addressing, subnetting, basic routing and switching, and LAN/WAN configuration.
  • Demonstrates the ability to support travel operations on behalf of PTB, providing on-site technical assistance as required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of RF systems, such as transmitters, receivers, antenna networks and dedicated data circuits.

Responsibilities

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for virtual systems
  • Develops, deploys and supports customized VMware solutions – Creates and maintains as built and other systems drawings (flowcharts, Visio diagrams)
  • Interprets and implements security baseline configurations for all system components
  • Designs and implements system security and data assurance
  • Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems
  • Troubleshoots technical issues, and develops and implements solutions
  • Identifies system integrity issues and solutions for the full system life cycle
  • Conducts technical training and product briefings with customers
  • Supports operational and maintenance phase for as-built systems
  • Participates in special projects as required
  • Support travel operations on behalf of customer, providing on-site technical assistance as required

The Opportunity

NTS is seeking a Virtualization Systems Engineer that can support the design, test, integration and maintenance of the P25 Astro CORE System for Diplomatic Security’s (DS) Law Enforcement Radio Program (LERP)

The Virtualization Engineer designs, develops and implements integrated software and hardware solutions in virtualized enterprise and consumer systems. Responsible for systems planning, performance management, capacity planning, testing and validation, benchmarking, and information engineering. Evaluates and troubleshoots systems and ensures efficient delivery of systems contract capabilities. Mitigates risks, controls costs and schedule variance, and effectively manages large scale, integrated projects.

Key Responsibilities (Principal Duties and Accountabilities *Essential Functions)

Requirements
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Active Secret Security Clearance with immediate eligibility to be granted Top Secret Security Clearence
  • Must be able to obtain Departments of State class 1 medical clearance.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education & experience
Required Skills, Experience & Abilities
  • 7+ years of experience in systems engineering including virtual network analysis, design & installation
  • Foundational networking knowledge including IP addressing, subnetting, basic routing and switching, and LAN/WAN configuration
  • Demonstrates the ability to support travel operations on behalf of PTB, providing on-site technical assistance as required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of R.F. systems, such as transmitters, receivers, antenna networks and dedicated data circuits.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems.
  • Experience With Communications System Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, and line sweep analyzers using
  • Frequency Domain Reflectometry.
  • Experience with Astro CORE applications such as KMF, UNC, PM, UEM, ZW and ZC

  • Work Locations will include NTS-Gainesville, IMDC – Manassas, Sterling and multiple DoSlocations around the DC area. There will be the possibility of international travel to supportthe contract. OCONUS travel may include critical threat locations around the world with austere living conditions.

Compensation

This is a Salary Non-Exempt role. The base salary range for this position is $150,000-$165,000

Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including relevant experience, qualifications, skills, location, and internal equity.
