About the Team

The Virtual Preparatory Academy of Washington is a K-12 tuition-free online public school in the state of Washington. At VPA Washington, we empower students to be their best by enabling them to learn in ways that are right for them – using innovative technology at home, at their proper level, and at their own pace.

About the Role

The Student Success Coach at VPA Washington manages onboarding, core interventions, and support services for assigned students, serving as the primary contact for new students and families. This role involves communication, oversight of educational interventions, and support to increase engagement and student success. Note: While this is an online position, travel and face-to-face attendance are required several times per year for state testing and student events.

Eligibility

This position is open to residents of Washington State.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support students and families through onboarding and required tasks.
  2. Maintain weekly open office hours and help sessions.
  3. Make welcome calls in coordination with homeroom teachers.
  4. Follow up on non-completion items for new students.
  5. Collaborate with departments and vendors to resolve issues.
  6. Participate in admissions counseling, including transcript review, course selection, and answering questions.
  7. Serve as the primary contact for addressing barriers to attendance, academics, and behavior.
  8. Provide strategies to help students and parents communicate effectively with staff.
  9. Facilitate training/support and provide academic resources.
  10. Monitor student progress and hold regular check-ins.
  11. Collaborate with teachers and parents on evaluations and objectives.
  12. Conduct conferences with parents and students as needed.
  13. Participate in student gatherings and maintain documentation.
  14. Contribute to professional development activities.
  15. Coordinate re-enrollment activities with leadership and national teams.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social services, or related field.
  • Experience as a teacher, tutor, counselor, or mentor.
  • Marketing experience including social media, events, and communications.
  • Proficiency with Google Docs, MS Office, email, and internet applications.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong data collection and analysis skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work remotely with a distributed team.
  • Ability to pass background checks.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary ranges from $45,000 to $55,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), life and disability insurance, and paid holidays. Paid time off is 11 days annually for 11-month staff. Multiple health plans are available to meet various needs.
