Job summary

American Data Network is seeking experienced VPS Registry Abstractors to support pediatric critical care registry abstraction for healthcare clients. The role requires hands-on VPS experience, independent chart review, and adherence to client deadlines.

Contractors must be available for a minimum of 15 hours per week, with access to high-speed internet, a PC or laptop, and at least two monitors. This position supports hospitals and patient care through rigorous data abstraction.

Qualifications

• Clinical data collectors must be a physician, RN or RT, preferably with critical care experience.
• At least 2 years of recent VPS Registry abstraction experience.
• Ability to independently abstract VPS cases using registry specifications and clinical documentation.
• Strong understanding of pediatric critical care documentation, healthcare quality reporting, registry abstraction, clinical documentation review, and medical record interpretation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, documentation, and follow-through.
• Comfort working in multiple EHRs, registry platforms, vendor tools, and data collection systems as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient medical records and collects and abstracts data for the VPS Registry, focusing on key data elements that support improved care and patient outcomes in pediatric intensive care units.
• Interprets clinical documentation related to pediatric intensive care, diagnoses, treatments, procedures, outcomes, complications, and related quality measures.
• Enters accurate and complete data into assigned registry platforms, EHRs, vendor tools, or other data collection systems.
• Maintains a high level of abstraction accuracy, completeness, and attention to detail.
• Meets assigned productivity expectations, weekly progress goals, and internal and client deadlines.
• Participates in quality assurance activities, including feedback, correction, validation, and IRR reviews.
• Communicates professionally with account leads, team members, and client contacts when clarification is needed.

Position Summary:

American Data Network is seeking experienced Virtual Pediatric Systems (VPS) Registry Abstractors to support accurate and timely pediatric critical care registry abstraction for assigned healthcare clients. This role is ideal for candidates with recent, hands-on VPS abstraction experience who can independently review clinical documentation, apply registry specifications, and meet assigned deadlines with a high level of accuracy.

This is not a general data entry position. Candidates must have direct healthcare registry, clinical chart review, quality reporting, or data abstraction experience specific to Virtual Pediatric Systems (VPS).

Position Details:

ADN hires both contractors and full-time employees for Data Abstraction roles. Contractors must be available for a minimum of 15 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reviews patient medical records and collects and abstracts data for the Virtual Pediatric Systems (VPS) Registry, focusing on key data elements that support improved care and patient outcomes in pediatric intensive care units (PICUs).
• Interprets clinical documentation related to pediatric intensive care, diagnoses, treatments, procedures, outcomes, complications, and related quality measures.
• Enters accurate and complete data into assigned registry platforms, EHRs, vendor tools, or other data collection systems.
• Maintains a high level of abstraction accuracy, completeness, and attention to detail.

• Strong understanding of pediatric critical care documentation, healthcare quality reporting, registry abstraction, clinical documentation review, and medical record interpretation.

Screening & Onboarding:

Qualified candidates will complete an initial phone screen and a VPS-specific abstraction assessment. The assessment is designed to evaluate understanding of registry specifications, abstraction judgment, accuracy, and completion speed.

ADN does not provide basic VPS abstraction training, so candidates should already have the registry experience needed for the role. After hire, ADN provides onboarding to ADN processes, client systems, EHR access, documentation tendencies, and other client-specific workflows.
