Job summary

The University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Patient Visual Monitor Technician for the Central Monitoring Unit to provide continuous observation of patients and ensure safety. Under the supervision of an RN, you will assist with basic nursing tasks and operate virtual monitoring systems.

Day shift, 12-hour weeks, 0.3 FTE, weekends and on-call as noted. You will monitor up to sixteen patients, communicate with the care team, and support a safe patient environment across the unit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Behavioral health training within 90 days of hire.
• BLS Healthcare Provider within 6 months of hire.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• Demonstrates dependability and self-discipline.

Responsibilities

• Continuously observe patients and report behavior changes to nursing staff.
• Monitor patient environment to ensure safety.
• Assist with activities of daily living under RN supervision.
• Operate virtual monitoring software and related tools.
• Document care and communicate with RNs and team.
• Collaborate with staff and participate in department activities.
• Complete unit-specific competencies during orientation.
• Maintain clean and safe workstation and troubleshoot equipment.
