University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Patient Visual Monitor Technician for the Central Monitoring Unit on the night shift. This role provides continuous observation to ensure patient safety, working under an RN and using virtual monitoring tools.

Responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, communicating with nursing staff, and assisting with activities of daily living while maintaining equipment and a safe environment.

Qualifikationen

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of behavioral health education/training within 90 days of hire
• Basic Life Support within 6 months of hire
• Previous healthcare setting preferred.
• Exhibits outstanding dependability.
• Self-discipline and motivation.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Operate, maintain, and make minor repairs to equipment.
• Use keyboard as required for duties.
• Communicate with patients via push-to-call devices/headset.
• Communicate with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient changes.
• Discretion and courtesy with patients, visitors and staff.
• Efficient multitasking and prioritization.
• Monitor up to sixteen patients continuously.

Aufgaben

• Maintain a clean, functional workstation and equipment.
• Observe patients continuously and report changes to RN.
• Respond to falls or safety concerns promptly.
• Redirect or push alarms for at-risk patients.
• Demonstrate proficiency with virtual monitoring software.
• Communicate patient status to bedside team.
• Assist with activities of daily living as directed.
• Document care and behavioral changes per RN.
• Collaborate with team during handoffs and meetings.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness in the monitoring area.
• Provide patient comfort and basic care tasks as needed.
• Support department with flexible staffing.

Ausbildung

High School Diploma or GED

Behavioral health training within 90 days

Basic Life Support (Healthcare Provider) within 6 months

Healthcare experience preferred

Excellent communication and teamwork

Keyboard operation capability

Ability to communicate with patients via push-to-call devices

Ability to communicate with hospital staff quickly

Multitasking and prioritization

Observation of up to 16 patients on monitor
