Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Patient Visual Monitor Tech for the Central Monitoring Unit. The role involves continuous observation of patients, use of virtual monitoring tools, and timely communication with nurses to maintain patient safety.

The position supports basic nursing care under RN supervision, with opportunities to contribute to patient safety and the efficiency of the care team in a 24 hrs/wk, days schedule. Weekend coverage applies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Behavioral health education/training within 90 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support within 6 months of hire.
• Healthcare setting experience preferred.
• Must demonstrate dependability and teamwork.
• Must be able to operate and troubleshoot monitoring equipment.
• Strong communication with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Continuously observe patients and report changes to nursing staff.
• Monitor patient environment to ensure safety at all times.
• Redirect and notify for assistance if a patient on fall precautions attempts to move.
• Utilize virtual monitoring software and two-way audio to communicate with care team.
• Document care and communicate with RNs and interdisciplinary teams.
• Participate in handoffs and department meetings, supporting team efficiency.
• Maintain clean, safe workstation and assist with supply stocking and equipment maintenance.
