Job summary

Westcliff University is seeking a Library Research Assistant to provide virtual library support for students and faculty. The role involves scheduling research help, answering inquiries, and helping create LibGuides and instructional content.

You will help with library outreach, navigation of databases, and scholarly resources, while maintaining records of inquiries and projects. A remote environment is supported, with flexible collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide virtual library assistance to students and faculty through appointments, email, and other online communication channels.
• Maintain a regular schedule of availability for library research assistance appointments.
• Respond to inquiries submitted through the library email account and ensure timely resolution or referral of questions.
• Assist with the creation and maintenance of LibGuides, library webpages, and digital learning content.
• Assist with the scheduling, hosting, and presentation of introductory Library Classroom visits.
• Support library outreach initiatives, workshops, webinars, and activities designed to increase awareness and utilization of library resources.
• Assist students in navigating academic databases, e-books, and other digital resources, and provide guidance on effective research strategies and the use of scholarly resources.
• Maintain accurate records of appointments, inquiries, and completed projects.
• Assist with special projects related to library services, instructional support, and student success initiatives.
• Remain informed about library resources, university policies, and emerging technologies relevant to academic research and learning.
• Troubleshoot basic issues related to library databases and electronic resources and refer technical issues, as appropriate.
• Handle other projects and tasks as needed.
