Job summary

Westcliff University seeks a Library Research Assistant to provide virtual library assistance to students and faculty through appointments, email, and online channels. The role includes maintaining a schedule for research help sessions and guiding users in navigating databases and e-books.

You will help create LibGuides, library webpages, and digital learning content, support library outreach, and assist with instructional materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Experience in higher education settings preferred.
• Familiarity with academic database research and scholarly resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide virtual library assistance to students and faculty through appointments, email, and other online channels.
• Maintain regular schedule of availability for library research assistance appointments.
• Respond to inquiries submitted through the library email account and ensure timely resolution or referral of questions.
• Assist with the creation and maintenance of LibGuides, library webpages, and digital learning content.
• Assist with the scheduling, hosting, and presentation of introductory Library Classroom visits.
• Support library outreach initiatives, workshops, webinars, and activities designed to increase awareness and utilization of library resources.
• Assist students in navigating academic databases, e-books, and other digital resources, and provide guidance on effective research strategies and the use of scholarly resources.
• Maintain accurate records of appointments, inquiries, and completed projects.
• Assist with special projects related to library services, instructional support, and student success initiatives.
• Remain informed about library resources, university policies, and emerging technologies relevant to academic research and learning.
• Troubleshoot basic issues related to library databases and electronic resources and refer technical issues, as appropriate.
• Handles other projects and tasks as needed
