Qualifications

• A demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity.
• Experience providing reference assistance and familiarity with reference tools.
• Experience teaching information literacy in a variety of disciplines.
• Experience in the development of online tutorials or web guides.
• Initial rank and salary for assistant librarian is based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a general reference librarian at the reference desk.
• Provide the entire range of in-person and online LibChat reference services, including some research consultations at the undergraduate and graduate level.
• Help with the supervision and training of student workers who assist at the reference desk and online LibChat reference services.
• Conduct course-related information literacy instruction for undergraduate courses as needed, including but not limited to, required rhetoric and communications classes.
• Conduct orientation tours for potential students, new students, and other groups as needed.
• Help with the review and update of online research guides for ADA compliance.
• Other duties as needed.
