Job summary

California Virtual Academies is seeking a High School Biology teacher to deliver online instruction to students in California. This virtual role involves teaching biology content, handling homeroom responsibilities, and guiding students through their coursework using Engageli and other online tools.

The ideal candidate holds a California Single Subject Teaching Credential for Biological Sciences, with EL authorization, and a passion for remote, student-centered learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required and California teaching credential in science (Biological Sciences)
• California English Learner Authorization required
• Strong content knowledge and ability to teach high school biology

Responsibilities

• Orient students to courses and requirements via email, phone, or online classroom
• Monitor attendance and progress for homeroom students; provide guidance and support
• Provide direct instruction and small-group coaching on course content
• Participate in instructional coaching and address coaching goals
• Proctor state testing and support testing logistics
• Communicate with parents and learning coaches; document interactions
• Maintain timely grading and progress reporting; meet goals with curriculum specialists
