Job summary

California Virtual Academies in California's online high school program is seeking a High School Teacher - Social Science to deliver standards-based instruction to online students. You will manage a caseload of content and homeroom students, provide guidance, and monitor progress in a virtual setting.

This full-time role requires a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Science, residency in CA, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Strong content and subject-matter knowledge
• Ability to support and guide adults, as well as students
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent writing and grammar skills
• Flexible schedule
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook, PowerPoint and experience using them in a professional capacity

Responsibilities

• Orienting students to their courses and communicating course requirements.
• Support homeroom students with general school information, schedule set-up, monitor student attendance and progress.
• Provide small group and direct instruction to students of course content.
• Participate in instructional coaching and develop instruction to address coaching goals.
• Augment course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment.
• Implement student’s IEP’s and attend IEP conferences as needed.
• Set deadlines for student work and grant extensions as deemed appropriate.
• Face to Face meetings with students and teaching adult as scheduled.
• Grade student work and enter grades into an online grade book in a timely manner.
