Position Summary

The VDC Field Technician is responsible for assisting in the layout of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems on construction projects. Responsibilities include technical duties in surveying, construction operations, and system layout to support project superintendents, foremen, and journeymen. The technician will assist in obtaining data necessary for the installation of fabricated components.

What You’ll Do

1. Perform tasks using Brandt’s VDC software and tools.
2. Set up and operate survey equipment such as Trimble GPS, Total Station, and robotic equipment.
3. Handle and carry survey equipment across terrains.
4. Locate and mark points for plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
5. Read drawings and perform layouts on-site.
6. Move materials safely to facilitate point marking.
7. Communicate effectively with team members on-site.
8. Follow safety rules and regulations.
9. Perform additional tasks as needed.
10. Prepare points shop drawings for layout and installation.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

• Ability to pass a drug test.
• Knowledge of Trimble GPS and survey equipment is a plus.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Point Layout, Revit.
• Adaptability to new surveying methods.
• Understanding of project deliverables like drawings and specs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Broad understanding of design approaches and systems.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
