If you are passionate about success and making a positive impact, consider applying to become an IDEAL ELECTRIC Field Service Technician.

We seek a well-qualified, talented Field Service Technician to perform service, diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance on large, high-power rotating electric machinery, motors, and generators during field service visits domestically and internationally. This full-time role is based in Mansfield, Ohio, reporting to the After Market Services Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

  1. Work safely and ethically both independently and as part of a team.
  2. Adhere strictly to safety and security standards and procedures.
  3. Complete work in compliance with policies and procedures.
  4. Provide excellent customer service and on-site support skills.

When not traveling:

  1. Report to the Mansfield, OH plant (preferably).
  2. Provide technical support via phone, virtual, or in-person as needed.
  3. Prepare and organize service trips.
  4. Research and prepare supporting documentation.
  5. Arrange travel and complete customer-required training/testing.
  6. Plan service and support operations.
  7. Complete documentation, reports, and expense reports.
  8. Perform work across various departments as needed.

When traveling:

  1. Install and commission equipment.
  2. Troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  3. Provide on-site technical and engineering assistance for proper installation, operation, and maintenance.
  4. Manage tools and equipment responsibly.
  5. Provide training on-site, in-house, or virtually.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent; technical education or military experience is a plus.
  2. 5-10 years of practical experience with large rotating electrical, high voltage, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
  3. Experience working with customers and vendors in a B2B environment.
  4. Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation.
  5. Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  6. Attention to detail and good time management.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, project management, and ERP systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS & HOURS

  1. Daily 8-12 hours; weekly 40-80 hours; overtime as needed, including potential exposure to extreme temperatures and confined spaces.
  2. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
  3. Extensive travel throughout the US and abroad.

REQUIREMENTS & DISCLOSURES

  1. Valid passport and US driver's license.
  2. Clean driving record.
  3. Management may reassign duties as needed.
  4. Post-offer physical and ability to lift 50-75 pounds required.
  5. Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding up to 30 feet.
  6. Specific vision abilities required.
