Job summary

Schol arMatch is seeking a full-time College Advisor to manage a caseload of students and provide mentorship through virtual advising, helping them navigate college life and plan for careers. The role supports events, reports to the Advising Manager, and requires residency in the San Francisco Bay Area or Greater Los Angeles.

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree, strong counseling skills, and comfort working in a diverse, anti-racist environment.

Qualifications

• Professional experience or expertise with first-generation, low-income college students.
• Advanced proficiency in GSuite and database management.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
• Ability to work in a diverse, anti-racist organization.
• Ability to communicate with a variety of personalities.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of ScholarMatch students via phone, text, and video meetings.
• Support implementation of student events and lead group advising sessions.
• Maintain documentation and prepare detailed casenotes.
• Attend in-person events and occasional travel as needed.
• Collaborate with the Advising Manager to address persistence issues.
• Vet, approve and verify student payment requests.
• Support partner scholarship communications and program modifications.
• Assist in selection for the Scholars Program.
