ScholarMatch is seeking a full-time College Advisor to join a virtual team serving students in California and across the U.S. The role focuses on guiding first‑generation, low‑income students through college life, from admission to career planning, with occasional in-person events in SF Bay Area or LA.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree, strong counseling skills, and experience supporting diverse student populations. The position is unionized, non-exempt, and paid hourly with benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.
• Experience with first‑generation, low‑income college students.
• Advanced proficiency in GSuite and database management.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
• Comfort in an anti‑racist, diverse workplace.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of college students and provide personalized support via phone, text, and video.
• Build relationships to guide transitions from high school to college and from college to career.
• Advise on academics, financial aid, campus life, and career exploration.
• Provide ongoing support for challenges faced by first‑generation, low‑income students.
• Hold office hours for additional student assistance.
• Collaborate with the program manager to address persistence issues.
