Our client in the Paarl wine region is seeking a Vineyard Operations Assistant to support daily vineyard management, from planting and pruning to harvesting and pest management. You will work closely with the vineyard manager to promote sustainable farming and high-quality grape production.

The role offers on-the-job training, exposure to a renowned wine industry, and opportunities to gain practical experience in viticulture within a beautiful rural setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in viticulture or agriculture is highly desirable.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to perform physical tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Basic understanding of plant science and pest management principles.
• Ability to operate basic farm machinery and tools.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
• A passion for wine and the winemaking process.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all vineyard tasks, including pruning, tying, canopy management, and irrigation.
• Participate in grape harvesting operations, ensuring quality and efficiency.
• Monitor vineyard health, identifying and reporting pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
• Operate and maintain vineyard machinery and equipment safely.
• Assist with record-keeping related to vineyard activities, treatments, and yields.
• Support the vineyard manager in implementing sustainable farming practices.
• Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the vineyard and related facilities.
