Job summary

Oak Hills Church is seeking a dedicated Visual Director to lead all live video production for English, Spanish and NextGen services. The role includes coordinating worship visuals, rehearsals, and post-service edits, and supervising volunteers who support weekend and campus events.

You will collaborate with the Speaker, Communications and Worship teams, train volunteers, manage staffing, and stay current with industry trends and software to ensure high-quality production across platforms.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from accredited college or university.
  • Four (4) years of video production experience in a large church (1,500+) or live broadcast video production.
  • Experience can substitute for education.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, drafts, and finalizes presentation assets for weekend services including sermon points, graphics, lyrics, and scriptures.
  • Recruits, trains, and retains volunteers; onboards applicants and conducts interviews.
  • Ensure Visual Team support for campus events by scheduling volunteers and addresses last-minute changes.
  • Serves as Visual Director for weekend services and studio productions, including rehearsals.
  • Develops ongoing technical training for media, shading, camera and switch operators.
  • Edits and distributes sermon video to Resi and YouTube with updated graphics.
  • Attends staff meetings and collaborates on church-wide projects.
  • Keeps up to date with industry norms, tools and software.

Job description

SUMMARY

This position contributes to the mission of Oak Hills Church (OHC) to be disciples who make disciples by guiding all people to follow Jesus moment by moment. The staff member is responsible for providing leadership for all live video production for English, Spanish and NextGen services or events.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITES
  • Coordinates, drafts, and finalizes presentation software with assets provided by the Speaker, Communications and Worship Team for weekend services to include sermon points, graphics, lyric road map, and scriptures.

  • Recruits, trains, and retains volunteers. Ensures volunteers complete the onboarding process, including volunteer application, screening, interviewing and training. Leads with Christlikeness, cultivates relationships, and equips and empowers volunteers.

  • Ensure Visual Team support for campus events by scheduling and coordinating volunteers to provide adequate event coverage. Monitor staffing needs, address last-minute scheduling changes, and step into operational roles when necessary to ensure all production responsibilities are fulfilled and events are executed efficiently and professionally.

  • Serves as the Visual Director for weekend services and studio productions, including attending pre-service meetings as well as attending and annotating rehearsals.

  • Develops and implements ongoing technical training for media, shading, camera and switch operator volunteers.

  • Edits and distributes sermon video to Resi and YouTube, keeping sites up to date with graphics provided by the Communications Team.

  • Attends and actively collaborates and participates in team, departmental, and church-wide staff meetings, initiatives, and special projects.

  • Keeps up to date with industry norms, skills, trends, tools, and software.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate’s degree from accredited college or university.

  • Four (4) years of video production experience in a large church (1,500+) or live broadcast video production. Experience with worship service planning and creative processes.

  • Experience can substitute for education.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of principles of supervision, training and performance management.

  • Knowledge of project management practices, techniques, and methodologies.

  • Knowledge of Planning Center Online, ProPresenter, and Resi.

  • Knowledge of signal flow in Audio/Visual systems.

  • Knowledge of digital signage systems.

  • Knowledge of camera operations, shading, and production switching in a live environment.

  • Knowledge of audio and lighting for video experience.

  • Ability to work in a fluid and collaborative environment.

  • Ability to lead a group to accomplish a common goal.

  • Ability to plan and organize projects.

  • Ability to multitask, work independently, follow direction with a high attention to detail.

  • Ability to use relational understanding to guide thinking and behavior.

  • Ability to track and communicate technical details.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasional lifting/carrying up to 30 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting and kneeling to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment.
