Job summary

Oak Hills Church is seeking a full-time Graphic Designer to create print and digital media that communicates ministry initiatives within the church brand. You will design for sermon series, pulpit graphics, and web visuals while collaborating with the Creative Team to maintain a consistent visual identity.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree in graphic design, at least one year of experience, and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.

  • One year experience as an intern or Junior Graphic Designer.
  • Experience can substitute for education.

Responsibilities

  • Designs professional-quality graphics using the Adobe Creative Suite demonstrating typography, color, composition and form.
  • Assists with design for sermon series branding and pulpit graphics with guidance.
  • Assists with design and user experience of the website with guidance.
  • Creates and delivers supporting graphics, illustration, typography, and photography guidance as needed.
  • Collaborates with ministries, Creative Director and team on promotional graphics for print and digital media.
  • Adheres to timelines and brand standards; obtains approvals before implementation.
  • Keeps up to date with industry norms, skills, trends, tools, and software.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The staff member is responsible for creation of print and digital media under direction of Design Team to promote and communicate OHC ministry initiatives within the visual identity of the OHC brand.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITES

Designs professional-quality graphics using the Adobe Creative Suite which demonstrates an understanding of typography, color, composition, and form.

Assists with design for sermon series branding and pulpit graphics with guidance as assigned.

Assists with design and user experience of OHC website with guidance as assigned.

Creates and delivers supporting graphics, illustration, typography, and photography guidance to Videographers as needed.

Works collaboratively with ministries, Creative Director, and Creative Team on design and implementation of graphics for promotional and ministry use such as flyers, ads, brochures, slides, logos, signage, environmental displays, web graphics, email graphics, social media graphics, apparel and giveaway items.

Adheres to and ensures the timeline and objectives stated for the project and are consistent with the brand standards as established by the Creative Team. Attains approval prior to implementation of projects.

Collaborates with Creative Team to further develop the visual identity of the OHC brand. Participates and shares ideas in brainstorming meetings.

Assists in facilitating and coordinating with vendors the negotiation and purchase of goods and services. Ensures quality and objective of project are fulfilled.

Keeps up to date with industry norms, skills, trends, tools, and software.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Graphic Design or related field.

One (1) year experience as an intern or Junior Graphic Designer.

Experience can substitute for education.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of design principles.

Knowledge of print production processes.

Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) & Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams) applications.

Knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary.

Ability to present and pitch concepts and ideas to peers and leadership.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Ability to complete diverse projects and tasks on time and on budget.

Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through both verbal and written means.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, members, and ministry volunteers.

Ability to perform all the physical, intellectual, and analytical requirements of the position including decision making.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasional lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting and kneeling to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment.
