Under the direction of the Victims Division Director, this position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Oklahoma Crime Victims Compensation Program and the VOCA Assistance Program in the Victim Services Division.
Associate degree preferred, although substantial relevant experience may substitute for education at the discretion of the Executive Coordinator.
A minimum of two years of experience in an office environment.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
Excellent adaptability skills.
The person in this position will be required to talk extensively to victims of violent crime who may be emotionally distraught.
Superb listening skills, patience, and empathy are critical.
In addition, qualified individuals must possess proper self-care techniques to manage stress and have crisis response experience or experience in working with victims of violent crime.
Excellent work ethics and interpersonal skills.
Four years of experience in a legal or social services related field; or a combination of education in Victim/Survivor Services and experience in the victims field.
Self-disciplined with excellent organizational skills.
Excellent computer, writing, spelling, data entry, and typing skills.
The ability to remain calm with people in crisis and get along with a variety of people from different backgrounds.
The ability to learn quickly.
The ability to maintain confidentiality and disassociate self from the effects of listening to and reading of graphic crime information.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with their hands and arms and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust and focus, and the ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
