Job summary

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma seeks a dedicated victim advocate to assist crime victims with compensation claims, court support, and case updates. You will report to the Tribal Prosecutor and work Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, at an hourly rate of $23.93.

Responsibilities include notifying victims, coordinating subpoenas, managing calendars, and updating case management systems. Strong public speaking and knowledge of IPV dynamics are required; experience with tribal cultures is a

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Public speaking ability is essential.
  • Basic knowledge of intimate partner violence dynamics.
  • Familiarity with tribal cultures and native family structures.
  • Experience with legal filing and calendaring court dates.
  • Experience with public, victims, and attorneys.

Responsibilities

  • Provide notice of proceedings and restitution forms to victims.
  • Coordinate meetings with attorneys and witnesses; issue subpoenas; calendar court dates.
  • Coordinate with witnesses for hearings and trials; ensure mileage and fees.
  • Check on victims and prepare for court environments.
  • Refer victims to Victim Service Coordinators as needed.
  • Assist victims in seeking protective orders against perpetrators.
  • Answer calls, assist visitors, make appointments, schedule meetings.
  • Maintain calendars for victim-related cases; coordinate appearances and meetings.
  • Update Odyssey and other case management systems with current information.
  • Issue subpoenas in criminal and juvenile cases with victims listed.
  • Provide monthly expenditure reports and restitution payments.
