VP, Service Designer

Location: New York, NY – 4 days in the office per week.

Overview

BNY—an industry‑leading global financial services company—invites applications for the Vice President, Service Designer role on our Innovations team. This role combines cutting‑edge AI and design thinking to deliver transformative solutions that elevate user experience and drive business outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design thinking workshops and ideation sessions to spark creative problem‑solving, generate fresh ideas, and build consensus among team members and stakeholders.
  • Leverage user journey and experience mapping to visualize and analyze interactions, deliver service designs, uncover pain points, discover opportunities, and propose solutions that enhance user satisfaction and increase engagement.
  • Develop personas, wireframes, and prototypes that effectively communicate design concepts and user flows, iterating based on stakeholder and usability feedback.
  • Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders, product managers, and development teams, to deeply understand and define user needs, business goals, and project requirements.
  • Create and maintain design guidelines, pattern libraries, and cohesive design systems that align with BNY’s principles, ensuring consistency across all products and features.
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, heuristic evaluation, and analyze user feedback to refine and improve the user experience of systems.
  • Stay updated on design trends and industry dynamics, emergent technologies, and best practices to bring fresh ideas and innovative approaches to the team.
Qualifications
  • Years of experience in global financial services or fintech as a UX/Service Designer, with a strong portfolio of successful enterprise projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a structured, analytical approach to developing solutions that meet client needs.
  • Proficiency in user journey mapping, design thinking methodologies, and facilitating ideation workshops.
  • Solid understanding of user‑centered, service design principles and best practices.
  • Experience with user research, usability testing, and data‑driven design decision‑making.
  • Visual design competency desirable with deep understanding of user experience.
  • Proficient with design tools such as Figma, Figjam, Miro, Adobe XD, or similar software.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills (verbal and written), articulating complex research to diverse audiences.
  • Solutions‑oriented team player with a track record of executing across a range of priorities.
  • Intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a desire to constantly learn and improve.
  • Excellent ability to establish trust‑based relationships with stakeholders and peers.
Compensation & Benefits

BNY offers a competitive base salary ranging from $93,000 to $200,000 per year, determined individually by experience and market location. Total compensation may also include commission, discretionary bonuses, short‑ and long‑term incentive packages, and company‑sponsored benefit programs. Benefits include paid leave, paid volunteer time, flexible resources, and wellbeing programs.
