Job description

About the Role

We are seeking an operationally driven and results-oriented Vice President, Business Development to lead Fivetran’s global Business Development function. Reporting directly to our Chief Marketing Officer and based out of our Denver, CO office, you will leverage first principles thinking to create scalable processes and oversee both inbound and outbound pipeline generation activities. You will work closely with our Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to build a high-performing, collaborative, and data-driven organization that drives substantial revenue growth.

What You’ll Do

Develop and Execute Strategy

  • Design and implement a comprehensive global business development strategy focused on enterprise market expansion and new revenue streams.
  • Identify high-potential verticals, strategic accounts, and growth opportunities.
  • Use a first principles approach to continuously refine and optimize pipeline generation processes.

Operational Excellence

  • Own and refine operational metrics, dashboards, and reporting to ensure the team meets and exceeds monthly, quarterly, and annual opportunity and pipeline quotas.
  • Oversee forecasting, pipeline management, and reporting to the executive team.

Leadership/Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a global Business Development team (50+), with a focus on hiring and training early-career professionals.
  • Foster a culture of performance, accountability, continuous learning, and collaboration.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and career development, ensuring clear growth paths and high engagement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales to ensure seamless lead handoff, pipeline progression, and revenue alignment.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to refine lead generation tactics and campaigns.
  • Work closely with Product and Operations teams to provide market insights and ensure alignment with go-to-market strategies.

Leverage AI for Growth & Efficiency

  • Integrate AI-driven tools to improve lead scoring and qualification, allowing for automated prioritization and real-time inbound triage.
  • Use advanced analytics for personalized outreach, predictive pipeline forecasting, and opportunity health scoring.
  • Automate routine tasks (e.g., CRM updates, reporting) to free up team capacity for relationship-building and strategic initiatives.
  • Apply data-driven insights to accelerate talent development and coaching, improving overall team performance.

Drive Results

  • Meet or exceed performance targets by focusing on pipeline creation, opportunity conversion, and overall revenue impact.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including C-level executives and decision-makers at target enterprise organizations.

Skills We're Looking For

  • Proven Leadership: 10+ years in sales/business development with at least 5 years leading large, geographically dispersed teams (50+).
  • Operational Mindset: Demonstrated success in building and optimizing processes, reporting structures, and metrics-based leadership.
  • Coaching & Mentorship: Passion for recruiting and developing early-career talent, with a track record of building strong team cultures that drive results.
  • First Principles Thinking: Ability to break down complex challenges and develop innovative, data-driven solutions.
  • Results Orientation: History of achieving and exceeding pipeline, opportunity, and conversion rate goals.
  • Strategic Acumen: Skilled at analyzing market trends, identifying growth opportunities, and adapting strategies for maximum impact.

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the target position and level. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Our job titles may span more than one career level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, business need, market demands. Pay Range $200,000 — $250,000 USD
