Job description

SUMMARY We are seeking an exceptional Vice President of Sales to lead an aggressive growth strategy for an established corrugated packaging manufacturer headquartered in Houston, Texas. This is a rare opportunity for a proven industry rainmaker to combine personal selling strength, executive leadership, and team-building expertise to drive the next phase of the company’s growth.

About the Role

The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for accelerating profitable revenue growth, expanding the company’s market presence, and building a high-performing commercial organization. The ideal candidate has a strong record of producing significant individual sales results, leading successful teams, and leveraging industry relationships to attract other high-performing packaging sales professionals. This leader will inherit an existing sales team while recruiting and developing the additional talent needed to support the company’s long-term growth objectives. Equity participation will be included as part of the compensation package for this role, allowing the selected executive to share directly in the long-term value they help create. The ownership team is focused on long-term growth and is not pursuing a sale of the business, providing the opportunity to build enduring value and participate in the results.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy that drives sustainable, profitable revenue growth and expands market share.
  • Serve as a highly active executive seller, leveraging established industry relationships to secure significant new corrugated packaging and related business.
  • Recruit, attract, and retain a bench of A-level sales professionals capable of producing multimillion-dollar individual books of business.
  • Lead, coach, and elevate the existing sales team while establishing clear goals, accountability measures, territories, compensation structures, and performance expectations.
  • Build a scalable commercial organization that balances individual production, team leadership, account development, and long-term customer retention.
  • Establish a disciplined sales operating rhythm, including pipeline management, forecasting, CRM adoption, opportunity reviews, and revenue reporting.
  • Identify and pursue high-value prospects across corrugated packaging, custom boxes, packaging distribution, and complementary product or service categories.
  • Develop executive-level relationships with customers and position the company as a responsive, strategic, and high-value packaging partner.
  • Partner closely with ownership, operations, manufacturing, estimating, and customer service to ensure that growth commitments align with capacity, margins, quality, and service expectations.
  • Evaluate strategic partnerships, large-volume programs, and contract-manufacturing opportunities that can maximize facility utilization and profitability.
  • Provide market intelligence on competitive activity, pricing, customer trends, acquisitions, and emerging growth opportunities.
  • Help design and refine competitive compensation and incentive programs that reward individual production, team performance, and profitable growth.
  • Represent the company as a visible industry leader and trusted ambassador throughout the Houston market and broader corrugated packaging community.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related discipline is preferred; exceptional industry achievement may substitute for formal education
  • Proven success leading a sales team that generated substantial multimillion-dollar revenue growth beyond the leader’s individual production.
  • Deep corrugated packaging industry knowledge, including strong familiarity with market dynamics, customers, competitors, pricing, margins, and operational capabilities.
  • An established network of customer relationships and respected sales professionals within the Texas packaging market.
  • Documented ability to recruit high-caliber sales talent and build a productive, accountable, and loyal commercial team.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the drive to create, build, and scale rather than simply maintain an existing organization.
  • Executive presence and the ability to earn the confidence of ownership, employees, major customers, and prospective team members.
  • Strong commercial judgment with the ability to balance revenue growth, profitability, capacity, service, and long-term customer value.
  • Experience with sales forecasting, CRM discipline, pipeline management, commission planning, and performance measurement.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, privately held company where leadership is hands‑on, decisions are made quickly, and results are highly visible.
