Job summary

BNY Mellon is seeking a Vice President, AI Risk, to join our Technology Risk Management team in Pittsburgh, PA. This strategic role will help build and sustain the AI Risk program across the organization, ensuring robust governance and risk oversight for AI initiatives.

You will liaise with Risk & Compliance, translate regulatory standards into practical AI risk requirements, and lead cross-functional efforts to embed risk controls across the AI lifecycle.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of AI risk/technology risk experience in regulated environments.
• Strong AI, risk, and technology subject matter expertise with practical on-the-job experience.
• Foundational knowledge of how banks implement risk management frameworks.
• Experience across risk management lifecycle: identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, governance.
• Proven negotiation and leadership to build a sustainable, adaptable framework.
• Ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
• Ability to translate complex AI and risk topics into clear requirements and decisions.
• Collaborative mindset and passion for safe, high-impact innovation.

Responsibilities

• Help build, implement, and sustain the AI Risk program and operating model.
• Liaise across Risk & Compliance to close gaps in AI oversight.
• Address and support risk management lifecycle activities across identification to governance.
• Translate risk standards into practical AI risk requirements, processes, governance routines.
• Apply banking risk management framework knowledge to AI risk program.
• Create a sustainable yet flexible framework for future business factors.
• Partner with first and second line stakeholders to implement AI risk requirements.
• Negotiate and influence stakeholders to align on AI risk changes.
• Prepare reporting for senior management and governance forums on progress.
