Job summary

First United Methodist Church of Waxahachie is seeking a Modern Worship Leader to plan, prepare, rehearse, and lead our weekly worship service with energy and engagement. This part-time, hourly, non-exempt role averages about 15 hours per week, including Wednesday rehearsals and Sunday morning services.

You will recruit and equip volunteers for musicians, hospitality, ushers, scripture readers, and tech crew; collaborate with the worship team to present a consistent message; and develop youth

Qualifications

• Previous experience with modern worship teams or leading a praise band.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work with audio/visual tech for worship.
• Proficiency with keyboard and/or guitar is a plus.
• Ability to recruit, develop, and direct a volunteer team for worship and related duties.
• Experience working with youth volunteers is a plus.
• Flexibility and willingness to embrace change.

Responsibilities

• Planning, preparation, rehearsal, and volunteer recruitment for a weekly Modern Worship service.
• Work with the worship team to ensure a consistent message across services.
• Recruiting and equipping volunteers to serve as musicians, hospitality, ushers, scripture readers, and tech crew.
• Conduct weekly rehearsals with musicians to prepare for Sunday services.
• Lead worship with engaging presence to encourage participation.
• Develop slide presentations to communicate service content and church news.
• Remain flexible to adapt to unexpected changes during worship services.
• Provide training, direction, and feedback to volunteers.
• Create opportunities for volunteers of all ages to participate and grow in leadership.
