Job summary

First United Methodist Church Plano seeks a Modern Worship Leader / Music Assistant to provide spiritual and musical leadership for the Modern Worship Band, collaborating with the Director of Worship Arts to shape a Modern/Blended Service including a youth choir.

The role is part-time (10 hours weekly) and entails coordinating music, developing volunteers, and guiding worship planning. Experience with children’s and youth activities is valuable, with Sunday mornings as primary hours.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate music selections to anchor the modern worship experience.
• Recruit, develop, and schedule members of the Modern Worship Team – both adults and youth, both paid and volunteer.
• Provide leadership for the modern worship service and rehearsal.
• Research and secure appropriate copyright licenses.
• Lead a modern/wesleyan service that reflects Wesleyan theology.
• Lead the Modern/Blended Service with the Director of Worship Arts; Sundays mornings focused, weekly planning during week.
• Direct children’s choir; recruit, rehearse and develop the children’s choir and sometimes sing in worship.
• Assist youth band on Sunday afternoons.
• Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Director of Worship Arts.
