Job summary

First United Methodist Church of Waxahachie is seeking a Modern Worship Leader for the weekly worship service. This part-time, hourly, non-exempt role involves planning, preparation, rehearsal and recruiting volunteers to support worship.

You will collaborate with the worship team and church leadership, develop engaging online and on-site elements, and lead rehearsals on Wednesday and Sunday services, with flexibility for seasons like Lent and Christmas Eve.

Qualifications

• Experience as a member of a modern worship team or leading a praise band.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work with technology including computers, sound equipment, and devices needed for worship.
• Experience recruiting and directing a volunteer team.
• Flexibility and willingness to embrace change.

Responsibilities

• Plan weekly worship using Planning Center and Canva.
• Collaborate with worship team to ensure a consistent message.
• Recruit and equip volunteers as musicians, hospitality, ushers, readers, and tech crew.
• Conduct weekly rehearsal with musicians.
• Lead Sunday worship with engaging presence.
• Develop slide presentations for service and announcements.
• Provide training and feedback to volunteers.
• Coordinate practice schedules and expectations with volunteers.
• Work with sound and video volunteers in advance.
