ACCESS South Bay is looking for a Surgery Veterinary Technician to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our patients. Your work will include hands-on care, facilitating outpatient treatments, performing laboratory tests, and support services such as admitting and discharging patients.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Strong client communication skills are essential: obtaining histories, presenting treatment plans, reviewing discharge instructions and medications, and providing client education.
  2. Assisting with anesthetic induction (RVTs) and monitoring sensitive and critically ill patients for diagnostic procedures and surgeries.
  3. Monitoring and treating patients requiring intensive management, recognizing significant changes, and notifying the veterinarian.
  4. Communicating with clients about pet health concerns and Thrive Membership options, medications, and treatments.
  5. Maintaining accurate medical records with support from practice systems.
  6. Gathering relevant health histories and maintaining medical charts.
  7. Using safe restraining techniques, following protocols, and keeping treatment areas clean and organized.
  8. Guiding, mentoring, and supporting fellow team members.

Experience & Skills Requirements:

  • Veterinary technician licensure preferred.
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience.
  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited program preferred, or equivalent education, training, and experience.

Compensation: $26-$36/hour, depending on experience and skills.
