Job summary

University of California, Davis is seeking a veterinary technician supervisor to oversee technical staff, manage training protocols and ensure clinical competency across a range of procedures. This role includes evaluating staff performance, counseling when needed, and maintaining staffing levels in a busy veterinary hospital.

Qualifications

  • Current California RVT Licensure (as per minimum qualification).
  • No minimum education required.
  • Experience supervising and evaluating staff in a veterinary setting.
  • Experience writing and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Experience communicating with diverse groups in a professional manner.
  • Experience coordinating equipment, supplies and staffing.
  • 5 years' experience in specialty or ER settings.
  • Skills in mentoring staff and resolving conflicts.
  • Advanced skills in patient care and monitoring critically ill patients.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee supervisory duties for technical staff including performance reviews and discipline when needed.
  • Provide para-veterinary technical, anesthesia and nursing support for invasive and diagnostic procedures.
  • Coordinate daily receiving, schedules, staffing levels and equipment needs.
  • Instruct staff, students, and clinicians in restraint, nursing care, treatments and sample collection.
