Hiring Range: (Contingent upon available funding): $25.00 - $33.00, Hourly
Work Schedule: M-F 8 am to 5 pm (hours may vary)
Faculty Appointment Period:
Supervision of veterinary assistants/technicians and oversight of the primary care department, including management of staffing needs and coordination of after-hours emergency schedules/shifts. Instructing/assisting fourth-year veterinary students and providing high-quality veterinary assistance. Providing veterinary technical assistance in accordance with the Practice Act. Completing other assigned tasks as necessary.
Exposure to animal diseases transmissible to humans, animal scratches or bites, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, medical waste, animal feces, urine, blood, vomitus, and hazardous materials such as chemotherapeutic drugs. Routine exposure to loud noises from animals. Must comply with mandatory rabies pre-exposure vaccination.
Must be physically capable of lifting animals weighing 50 pounds or more onto exam tables and into elevated cages.
Position Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA-accredited program, with two years of related experience, and a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license. Must hold a Registered Veterinary Technician license in Oklahoma. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Self-motivated, capable of working independently, and able to interact effectively with administration, students, staff, and professionals. Confidentiality required. Experience with restraint, injections, IV catheter placement, and knowledge of veterinary equipment.
Preferred Qualifications: Same degree with 2+ years experience, NAVTA-recognized Veterinary Technician Specialist, five years supervisory experience, and Veterinary Technician Specialist certification.
