BluePearl Pet Hospital in Rockville, MD is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Overnight team. This position offers a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 based on experience and credentials.

The role includes anesthesia induction/monitoring, triage of emergencies, radiography, vital signs assessment, CPR readiness, and critical patient support. Join a team focused on advanced care and client communication.

Qualifications

• Experience as a veterinary technician in emergency/overnight settings.
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and vitals during procedures.
• Comfort triaging emergencies and supporting critical patients.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia; use monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergencies; obtain vitals (temp, HR, resp rate, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Interpret vitals and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Manage CPR if needed and calculate meds and infusion rates.
• Place IV catheters and maintain feeding tubes/central lines.
• Mentor teammates and address client concerns.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Rockville, MD is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Overnight team!

This position is offering a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 based on experience and credentials.

Schedule: Mon, Tues, Wed; 7 AM - 7 PM

Pay: $24.50 - $49.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

We offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$5.50/hr. Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
• Perform additional relevant job responsibilities.
