BluePearl Pet Hospital in Charlestown, MA is seeking a skilled Emergency Veterinary Technician for our Overnight Emergency team. The role offers a sign-on bonus up to $10,000 and a pay range of $24.25-$49.00 per hour plus competitive shift differentials.

Schedule: 3-12 hour shifts. You will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, and perform digital radiography and IV access among other duties.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

This position is offering a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 based on experience.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Charlestown, MA is adding a skilled & compassionate Veterinary Technician to our Overnight Emergency team.

Schedule: 3-12 hour shifts

Pay: $24.25 - $49.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

We also offer competitive shift differentials for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$5.50 Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
