Veterinary Technician - Nephrology/Dialysis

$2,500 Sign on bonus available for experienced Veterinary Technicians!

Our clinic is renowned for its advanced specialty services, and we take pride in offering cutting-edge care for pets with kidney disease, urinary tract disorders, intoxications, and immune-mediated diseases.

As a Nephrology/Dialysis Veterinary Technician, you will play a key role in our nephrology team by:

- Supporting Diagnostic Procedures: Assist the nephrologist in conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests such as urinalysis, blood tests, and imaging to assess kidney function and overall health.

- Participate in the management, monitoring and treatment of dialysis cases in a progressive, high-quality manner.

- Administering Treatments: Manage and monitor fluid therapy, medications, and other nephrology-specific treatments, ensuring the safety and comfort of our patients.

- Patient Monitoring: Closely observe and document patients' vital signs and responses to treatment, adjusting as needed to achieve the best outcomes.

- Responsible for ordering supplies and ensuring that the dialysis unit is clean

- Facilitate the maintenance and calibration of clinical equipment by identifying malfunctioning equipment and scheduling service.

- Client Education: Provide compassionate guidance to pet owners by helping them understand their pet's condition and treatment options, home care, and dietary management.

- Collaboration: Work closely with our veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to deliver comprehensive, individualized, and high-quality care for each pet.

What We're Looking For:

- Critical Care or Internal Medicine experience, RVT preferred

- On Call shifts available

- Required technical skills include advanced phlebotomy skills/jug catheters/central lines

- Preferred skills include urinary catheter placement, sedation and general anesthesia of animals ASA 3 and above, transfusion medicine, intensive care patient monitoring and treatment

- Good understanding of medical terminology and veterinary pharmacology and the ability to communicate with clinicians, staff, and clients.

- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively as a member of a diverse team of clinical and administrative professionals.

- Able to work well independently as well as part of a team.

- Ability to work in a busy environment with diverse personalities while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.

- Ezyvet and SmartFlow knowledge is a plus

Compensation:

Non Credentialed Assistants $21/hr - $32/hr

Licensed Technicians -$26/hr - $38/hr

VTS - $40/hr

Pay to be determined by skills assessment
