Sherwood South Animal Hospital & Emergency Center in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our general practice team within our dynamic 24/7 emergency and critical care hospital. You will assist veterinarians during exams, support anesthesia and surgical care, and help maintain high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Experience in a clinical veterinary setting with direct patient care.
• CVT/LVT/RVT credentials encouraged, but not required.
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring and surgical assisting.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented, professional and compassionate demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, and procedures.
• Supporting anesthesia, surgical assisting, and post-operative care.
• Preparing patients and instruments for surgery.
• Monitoring anesthetic patients and observing changes in condition.
• Collecting laboratory samples and performing in-house diagnostics.
• Operating digital radiography and other diagnostic equipment.
• Administering medications and prescribed treatments.
• Recording accurate patient histories and medical records.
• Assisting with patient admissions and discharges.
• Using safe restraint techniques and following hospital protocols.
• Maintaining clean, organized, and sterile exam, treatment, and lab areas.
• Collaborating with doctors, technicians, and support staff.
• Supporting and mentoring fellow team members as needed.

Sherwood South Animal Hospital & Emergency Center is hiring a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our general practice team within a dynamic 24/7 emergency and critical care hospital. Our hospital serves dogs and cats across East & West Baton Rouge Parish, Zachary, Denham Springs, Central, and Prairieville, offering primary care, urgent care, emergency services, dentistry, boarding, and grooming-all under one roof.

What You’ll Do

• Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, and procedures
