Thrive Pet Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our general practice team at Sherwood South Animal Hospital & Emergency Center in Baton Rouge, LA. This 24/7 hospital offers diverse cases, teamwork, and high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

You will assist veterinarians, support anesthesia and surgery, handle labs and imaging, and contribute to a compassionate, learning-oriented culture within Thrive’s nationwide network.

Qualifications

• Assists veterinarians during exams, treatments, and procedures.
• Supports anesthesia, surgical assisting, and post-operative care.
• Prepares patients and instruments for surgery.
• Monitors anesthetic patients and observes changes in condition.
• Collects laboratory samples and performs in-house diagnostics.
• Operates digital radiography and other diagnostic equipment.
• Administers medications and prescribed treatments.
• Records accurate patient histories and medical records.
• Assists with patient admissions and discharges.

Sherwood South Animal Hospital & Emergency Center is hiring a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our general practice team within a dynamic 24/7 emergency and critical care hospital. This role is ideal for technicians who enjoy variety, teamwork, and practicing quality medicine in a fast‑paced, supportive environment.

Our hospital serves dogs and cats across East & West Baton Rouge Parish, Zachary, Denham Springs, Central, and Prairieville, offering primary care, urgent care, emergency services, dentistry, boarding, and grooming—all under one roof.

What You’ll Do

• Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, and procedures
• Supporting anesthesia, surgical assisting, and post‑operative care
• Preparing patients and instruments for surgery
• Monitoring anesthetic patients and observing changes in condition
• Collecting laboratory samples and performing in‑house diagnostics
• Operating digital radiography and other diagnostic equipment
• Administering medications and prescribed treatments
• Recording accurate patient histories and medical records
• Assisting with patient admissions and discharges
• Using safe restraint techniques and following hospital protocols
• Maintaining clean, organized, and sterile exam, treatment, and lab areas
• Collaborating with doctors, technicians, and support staff
• Supporting and mentoring fellow team members as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working as a veterinary technician in a clinical setting with direct patient care
• CVT / LVT / RVT credentials encouraged, but not required
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring and surgical assisting
• Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment
• Team‑oriented, professional, and compassionate demeanor
