Job summary

CityVet is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our team in Austin. The VT will support veterinarians by preparing patients for procedures, restraining animals, and managing lab tasks while ensuring compassionate care and clear client communication.

The role requires at least 1 year of veterinary experience, strong safety awareness, and excellent teamwork. Full-time employment includes health, life, and disability insurance, paid time off, and a competitive 401(k) plan.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year veterinary industry experience
• Ability to properly and safely restrain animals
• Lift up to 50 lbs and remain physically active throughout shift
• Strong communication and listening skills, with attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians by preparing patients for surgery (anesthesia, X-rays, lab work) and monitoring post-op patients
• Obtain samples (stool, blood, etc.) for testing and processing
• Perform tests and help interpret results to support diagnoses
• Administer prescribed medications, vaccines, and anesthesia as directed
• Provide client education and clear instructions for home care under the veterinarian's plan
• Assist the Client Service Specialist team with duties as needed
