Job summary

CityVet is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our team in Austin. A Veterinary Technician Assistant will be considered with a minimum of one year of experience. The VT will support Veterinarians by preparing patients for surgery, restraining animals, and aiding in procedures to enhance client care.

Responsibilities include sample collection, testing support, medication administration, and clear client communication to follow the veterinarian's plan of care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience.
• Understanding and ability to properly, and safely, restrain animals.
• Knowledgeable on veterinary terminology and medications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinarians - prep patients for surgery, monitor post-op, restrain animals during exams.
• Obtain samples for testing (stool, blood, etc.).
• Test samples and help interpret results.
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
• Communicate with clients and provide care instructions per the plan.
