Job summary

Petco is hiring a Veterinary Technician to support Vetco Total Care full-service hospital patients and deliver excellent client service. You will work under veterinarians to assist in appointments, surgeries, dentistry, and anesthesia, while maintaining accurate medical records and coordinating patient care.

The ideal candidate has credentialing as a Veterinary Technician, strong communication, and at least 1 year of experience in a veterinary setting.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong telephone and computer skills.
• College- or college-equivalent education required to become a Credentialed Veterinary Technician.
• Must have at least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary practice.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, record vital signs, and begin the medical record.
• Assist veterinarian with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Handle medications, lab samples, and maintain medical records.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, and manage inventory and accounts receivable.
• Prepare patients for procedures and monitor anesthesia under veterinary direction.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and ensure patient welfare.
