Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to support our busy Emergency and Critical Care department in Florida. The role offers a sign-on bonus for qualified CVT/VTS applicants and a pay range of $20 to $40 per hour, starting point dependent on experience and competency leveling.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, and perform digital radiography.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Veterinary Technician in emergency/critical care.
• CVT or VTS applicants are eligible; sign-on bonus for qualified applicants.
• Willingness to work the stated hours (7:30 am – 8:00 pm).

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and record vitals like temperature, HR, RR and BP.
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Understand normal vital sign ranges and interpret vitals.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify at-risk patients and initiate CPR when needed.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer meds via correct routes.
• Phlebotomy and placement of peripheral IV catheters.

We are now offering a Sign-On Bonus for qualified CVT/VTS applicants!

Hours: 7:30 am - 8:00 pm

Pay: $20 - $40 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.

• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.

• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
