BluePearl Pet Hospital in Johns Creek, GA is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. This fast-paced role lets you apply anesthesia, radiography, and critical care skills to help sick and injured pets.

Qualifications

• Experience in Emergency & Critical Care veterinary settings.
• Current veterinary technician credential and eligible to work in the U.S.
• Ability to triage and manage distressed patients.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergencies and obtain vitals (temp, HR, resp rate, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper positioning.
• Understand normal vital ranges and respond to changes.
• Interpret blood pressure and vital signs; alert Veterinarian.
• Initiate CPR when needed and manage medical math for meds.
• Place IV catheters and assist with central lines and feeding tubes.
• Mentor and train co-workers; address client concerns.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
