Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Licensed Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department in Louisville, KY. Pay ranges from $20.00 to $40.50 per hour, starting point based on experience and leveling.

Candidates with VTS credentials are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience. This role offers a fast-paced environment with opportunities to grow skills under a talented veterinary team.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician with current credentials required.
• VTS credentialing eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.
• Experience in emergency/critical care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients.
• Triage emergency cases and record vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper positioning and technique.
• Manage patient monitoring and CPR as needed.
• Phlebotomy and IV catheter placement as skilled duties.
• Mentor and train co-workers in bedside skills.

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our leveling system.

BluePearl Pet Hospital , the role of Veterinary Technician is an exciting , fast-paced opportunity that will allow you to utilize the skills that you have worked so hard to gain. As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
