Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Sarasota, FL is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. A Sign-On Bonus is available for qualified CVT/VTS applicants. Pay ranges from $20 to $40 per hour, depending on experience and progression through competency levels.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will support anesthesia, triage, radiography, and critical patient care while mentoring colleagues and delivering compassionate client service.

Qualifications

• CVT or VTS credentials preferred.
• Experience in Emergency and Critical Care.
• Ability to work with fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Calculate meds and administer IV fluids.
• Place IV catheters and perform phlebotomy.
• Mentor and train junior staff.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

We are now offering a Sign-On Bonus for qualified CVT/VTS applicants!

Hours: 7:30 am - 8:00 pm

Pay: $20 - $40 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.

• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.

• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
