Job summary

Petco is seeking a Veterinary Technician for our Vetco Total Care full-service hospital in Georgia. You will support veterinarians in routine and emergency care, manage patient records in EMR, and deliver compassionate customer service to pet owners.

This role emphasizes teamwork, education of clients, and maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment. The incumbent will greet clients, record vitals, assist with procedures and anesthesia, and help train new staff while upholding Petco’s care

Qualifications

• College or college-equivalent education required to become Credentialed Veterinary Technician.
• Minimum 1 year experience as Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, sympathetic and able to maintain a professional attitude under stress.
• Good telephone and computer skills.
• Team player willing to learn new techniques and accept change.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, obtain weight and vitals, document visit in EMR.
• Assist veterinarian with routine and emergency appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia.
• Perform patient restraint, obtain lab samples, dispense medications as directed, maintain EMR.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, maintain records and accounts receivable.
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthesia, discharge or transfer as needed.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and animal care, including medications and IV therapies.
• Train new staff and share knowledge as required.
• Keep hospital neat, clean, and maintain a maintenance schedule.
