University of Minnesota seeks a Veterinary Technician Assistant for the wards on the 2nd shift. You will assist with medical treatments, restraint, sample transport, and client communications, while maintaining clean wards and stock. The role requires basic veterinary knowledge and good interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: One year post-high school experience or education in veterinary assisting (restraint, terminology, anatomy, first aid, med administration).
• Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills; understanding of veterinary terminology.
• Ability to work within clinical scope and adapt to patient care needs.
• Proficiency with PC and software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with medical treatments and patient care, including feeding and grooming.
• Restrain patients for procedures; take histories and receive appointments.
• Prepare treatment rooms and set up for surgeries and procedures.
• Transport samples to labs and manage scheduling/documents.
• Administer oral medications and monitor patient status; update owners.
