Job summary

The University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center is seeking an entry-level Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the Small Animal Emergency Room team. You will deliver high-quality veterinary technical support across wellness, diagnostics, treatment, and client education in a fast-paced academic clinical setting.

Under the direction of a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, you will contribute to patient care, participate in education and clinical research activities, and support hospital

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program.
• Credentialed veterinary technician eligible to obtain credentialing within 12 months of hire.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to safely restrain and handle small animals.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient histories, vital signs, and physical assessment information.
• Triage arrivals for ER.
• Assist with sedation and recovery monitoring.
• Place and maintain IV catheters and administer medications and fluids.
• Perform radiographic positioning and image acquisition per hospital protocols.
• Educate clients regarding medications, treatment plans, and post-procedure care.
